FAQ
Do you work with beginners?
Yes! Especially beginners who want to understand their bodies and build a strong foundation rather than being rushed into advanced movement. I love working with all levels of Pilates enthusiasts, including beginners. Beginners are the best because everything is new and exciting! Setting the foundations in Pilates are so important and crutial to being a better mover. I feel honored any time I get to be a part of that process.
Do you Teach Classical Pilates?
No. I am certified through BASI Pilates, and I have a strong foundation in the methodology of Joseph Pilates’ work. I love the BLOCK System BASI uses and to this day I use it during every session, to focus on a well rounded workout. I don’t really like to put myself in a box when it comes to my teaching style, but I would probably say I lean towards Contemporary, Athletic, Functional Pilates.
What makes your Pilates approach different?
My work blends classical Pilates with somatic awareness and strength training, allowing clients to build strength while improving coordination and body awareness.
What other credentials do you have?
In addition to my Comprehenive Pilates Instructor Certification through BASI Pilates, I am also a certified Yoga Instructor through YogaFit, and a Nutritional Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I have owned and managed my own women’s only fitness facility, as well as coordinated a Wellbeing Program for a large non-profit organization. I have taken workshops ranging from group fitness to fiscal management, 3D Anatomy to Teaching the Next Level. My background is not just with the human body, but I also the business side of Wellness.
Do you offer virtual Pilates sessions?
Yes. Virtual sessions are fully private and designed to be just as intentional and effective as in-person work.
Why do a Virtual Pilates Session?
Virtuals are great for clients who maybe don’t have time to make it to a studio, perhaps they don’t want the distractions of a busy studio, or maybe they already have equipment at home but don’t want to bother with putting a session together themselves. They’re easy, convenient and effective.
What should I expect during a Virtual Pilates Session?
Expect to workout! Virtual sessions are just as much work as an In-Studio session. I still plan client workouts based on their needs, their equipment, their goals, etc., but I am also making sure clients are in a safe setting, watching form, etc. My eyes are 100% client focused!
Are VIrtual pilates sessions effective?
Yes, virtual Pilates sessions can be very effective when taught intentionally. Virtual one-on-one sessions focus on clear instruction, intelligent exercise selection, and adapting movements to work safely and effectively without hands on adjustments. Many clients and instructors successfully build strength, mobility, and understanding through virtual Pilates.
What are the benefits of one-on-one Pilates sessions compared to group classes?
One-on-one Pilates sessions allow instruction to be fully tailored to the individual. Private sessions focus on alignment, appropriate use of equipment, and movement strategies specific to your body, goals, and needs. This same level of personalization is not possible in group classes and often leads to better understanding, more efficient progress, and long-term sustainability.
Do you workout with your clients during their sessions?
No. It’s not my workout, it’s theirs. I may show moves that someone hasn’t done before that might be challenging, especially for people who are visual learners. Or I may demonstrate moves to help describe what I want someone to feel. But typically I am talking them through the moves, watching form, etc.
How many sessions a week should I do?
Pilates can be done every day. That being said, 3 times a week is a great goal. Not everyone has that time (or the money), and my schedule might not have the availability to accommodate that. I am a firm believer that any movement is better than no movement…so if you can only do one session a week, that’s great too! Consider asking for some moves you can do at home until your next session.
What if I don’t have time for an hour session?
I do offer 30 minute sessions that can be catered to your needs.
Do you have On Demand Videos?
I currently do not offer ODV. Should I get enough requests, this could change. Feel free to message me and let me know if this is something you’d like to see as an offering.
Will I be doing the same exercises I see you doing on your Instagram?
The work I post online is typically my own practice. So no, not necessarily. You will be doing whatever your body is ready to be doing. That might be foundational, intermediate, or occasionally advanced. I rarely find myself training clients the way I workout online, that being said…if your body’s ready, it could happen!
What is your favorite piece of equipment?
The Reformer is probably my favorite piece of equipment to teach and play on. However, each apparatus offers their own amazing benefits catering to specific needs or goals.
What type of Reformer do you have?
I have an Allegro 2 Tower of Power Reformer from Balanced Body.
